Welcome! BOTW official launch date pending...

It depends on how many quality submissions we receive and when. We're counting on your participation. Thanks in advance!

What Badge of the Week is all about.

The purpose of BOTW is to recognize the good work of first responders - law enforcement personnel, fire fighters, state troopers, highway and border patrol agents, etc. - who not only faithfully rise to the occasion every day but go above and beyond the call of duty.

If you know of someone who fits that description, we want to hear about it. We invite you to nominate that person for “Badge of the Week”.

Awarding someone with a Badge of the Week honor, and perhaps later with Badge of the Month or Year recognition, is our way of saying “thank you” to first responders who do the right thing. We want you to know that you make a difference. What you do has value. This is true for many who may never be recognized as BOTW but who show up every day to do what needs to be done to help keep order in our communities.

The commitment that you make to be there for your community each day makes us all safer. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We want to formally recognize as many of you as we can.

If you are selected for BOTW recognition, consider it icing on the cake. Not all will be. You've heard it said, “It’s an honor to be nominated.” Honorable mentions will be displayed here.

We hope that the simple fact that BOTW exists will be a source of encouragement to first responders, nominated or not, knowing that not everyone wants to see you defunded or marginalized.

“Bad cops” and their ilk get plenty of coverage, but good ones do not.

We ’re out to change that, but we can’t do it alone. We need you to share the story of the most laudable action by a first responder that you’ve seen this week, month, or year. We see the potential for Citizen of the Week recognition, too, at some point.

What we need from you, the nominator:

Tell us what happened, how you were involved, and who you are. What role did you play in the event in question: official observer, participant, or otherwise disinterested third party. This doesn’t mean you aren’t interested, just that you did not have a direct role in the event.

Type of events you might report include observing or being aware of someone saving a life or lives at great risk to themselves, or someone making an urgent connection with personnel or acquiring equipment required to save a life or lives, or to lower the threat threshold in a given situation.

We require two or more credible witnesses

to corroborate the account of events surrounding your nominee. Include the names of all involved in your submission, along with their contact information. We will follow up to confirm and clarify.

Submit your nomination to badgeoftheweek@gmail.com. â€‹

We'll release more details in the coming weeks. Submit any questions you may have to badgeoftheweek@gmail.com. Stay connected and follow us on Facebook and Twitter.

Judges are also needed.

We’re searching for six qualified experts to join our selection committee and help us choose candidates for BOTW recognition.

You must be a law enforcement professional in order to volunteer to join our esteemed panel of judges. We will invite site visitors to vote for BOTW candidates, however, our judges will make the final decision.

Send your CV / resume to badgeoftheweek@gmail.com.

This is an unpaid position, but you will have our undying gratitude. Our goal is not to make money, but to sing the praises of deserving individuals who are too often overlooked and under-appreciated. Any income we derive from any source - the sale of books or donations - will go to maintain the site. There is the potential for a stipend for participants down the road. Thanks for your interest!

-More Training-

Office Garcia put himself in the line of fire without a second thought. Had he not stopped to help us, I shudder to think of the possible outcome.

I've worked with Sergeant Dolan for the better part of two decades. I have yet to meet a braver, more selfless individual.
